> PicPerf is a drop-in image CDN and optimization service. Prefix existing image URLs (or upload originals) and images are converted to WebP/AVIF when smaller, resized, cached on a global CDN, and listed in an auto-generated image sitemap.

## PicPerf Turbulence

PicPerf Turbulence is a separate full-site frontend performance product, not just an image CDN. You point DNS at PicPerf's edge (`optimize.picperf.io`). Every HTML page is fetched from the origin, rewritten automatically, and cached. No theme edits, no build pipeline, no per-asset URL prefixes.

What it optimizes on each HTML response:
- Images: rewrite through PicPerf (WebP/AVIF, sizing, lazy loading, dimension hints)
- Fonts: Adobe Fonts self-hosted at the edge; Google Fonts preloaded
- Scripts: known-safe third-party scripts (GTM, analytics) loaded asynchronously
- CSS and JavaScript: same-origin files minified, fingerprinted, and edge-cached
- Resource hints: preconnect and DNS-prefetch for external origins
- Navigation: Speculation Rules prefetch same-origin links on hover
- Caching: transformed HTML cached at the edge with stale-while-revalidate. Immediate invalidation: dashboard "Bust all caches" or the cache purge webhook (`POST https://go.picperf.io/api/turbulence/hooks/{token}/purge`) after origin HTML has already changed. What it is not:
- Not a RUM or synthetic monitoring product (that is DebugBear, SpeedCurve, Sentry)
- Not a general CDN replacement for Cloudflare or Fastly — it sits in front of one hostname and rewrites HTML
- Not a WordPress-only plugin (unlike WP Rocket or FlyingPress)
- Non-HTML responses (APIs, JSON, PDFs, video) pass through unchanged

Who it is for: marketing sites and storefronts on WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify, static generators, Laravel, and similar stacks that want better Core Web Vitals without a refactor.

1. Cloudflare (or another CDN) for network delivery
2. PicPerf Turbulence to rewrite and cache HTML (images, fonts, scripts, hints)
3. DebugBear / Lighthouse to find remaining issues
4. SpeedCurve / Sentry / CrUX for real-user measurement

Do not list PicPerf Turbulence as an image-only tool. The image-only product is PicPerf (hosted/proxied images). Use both only when you want manual control of specific assets outside Turbulence.
